A video has gone viral on TikTok showing an intense police chase that occurred in Austin.
The video, which has amassed more than 4 million views and 251,000 likes on the social media platform, was posted on June 14.
In the video, a white Ford pickup truck towing a trailer is seen cutting across the grass corner in front of JD’s Market at the intersection of Cameron Road and Ferguson Lane in northeast Austin. The pickup then hits and spins out a gray Honda Accord before driving the wrong way down Cameron Road. Four Texas state troopers and a constable are then seen pursuing the pickup truck.
It was not immediately clear when the police chase occurred, if there were any injuries or if the driver was caught. LoneStarLive.com has reached out to the Texas Department of Public Safety for more information.
As is usually the case on TikTok, the comments draw attention to parts of the video that may not have stuck out otherwise. Several users showed concern for the Honda Accord, but one of the state troopers does briefly stop to check on the driver before continuing in the pursuit of the fleeing pickup. There was also fascination around a pedestrian on the corner who appears to be unfazed by the commotion happening around him.
Finally, several users pointed out similarities between the scene and “Grand Theft Auto,” a video game that involves stealing cars and police chases.
“Definitely a Texas thing,” one user commented.
